PrerequisiteThis course is for law-abiding adult citizens, as defined by applicable federal, state or local law, and experienced shooters (shooters able to show mastery of the basic skills of safe gun handling, shooting a group, zeroing the firearm, and cleaning the firearm). Prospective participants can demonstrate that they have the requisite knowledge, skills, and attitudes by producing an NRA Basic Pistol Course Certificate, NRA FIRST Steps Course Certificate, NRA pistol competitive shooting qualification card, military DD 214 with pistol qualification, or passing the Pre-Course Assessment.

The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting is intended for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA-affiliation. This is an instructor-led course where you will receive direct instruction from an NRA-certified instructor from beginning to end. The class includes a hands-on practical portion conducted in a classroom and shooting range with an Instructor.

NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course

No prior firearms experience is required to attend this class. Regardless of your experience or skill level, all ladies are encouraged to join us for our Ladies Only Basic Pistol Safety Class! 

Instruction begins in the classroom with basic firearm safety and the fundamentals of pistol shooting.  Some review of the Virginia Code and a concealment option demonstration (time permitting).  Students are encouraged to ask questions and share related experiences during the training. 

Upon completion of the classroom theory all students will head on the the live range for practical range training (the fun part...shooting a pistol) with Kim and her colleagues from CCnKC Security. If you do not have your own firearm, that’s okay!  The range offers free use of their rental firearms to use during class.   However, pleaseseparate cost of *When using a range pistol ammo must be purchased there and is approximately $7-$10 for ammunition when using a range pistol.

Today, hundreds of federal, state and local law enforcement officials from across the nation utilize this popular program in their crime prevention and community policing initiatives.

In a safe and friendly environment, whether you’re picking up a firearm for the very first time or simply in need of a little refresher, you’ll immediately feel at ease with this hands-on, one-of-a-kind experience. This one-hour private instruction session is perfect for all levels. Complete with skill development and focused drills, Kim teaches the knowledge, skills, and attitude to carry and use a pistol ethically, responsibly, and with confidence.
